MDDN 241: Rigging

I have rigged the top part of my model, but I am still having some trouble attaching the head of my character to the springy part of his body.

MDDN 241: Compositing vs. Modeling

One of the suggestions I was given at the presentation of project 2 was to consider using real world footage in my final animation rather than modeling everything in my scene.

I have decided against using real world footage as it would be too hard to get my animated character to interact with it's surroundings (such as some of the objects he plays with on the desk) if I was compositing, and it would look strange if I did a combination of the two.

MDDN 241: Storyboard

Here is my final storyboard for 241.

MDDN 241: Environment

The environment my character lives in is a desk that has many things scattered across it.

This is the power point that he sleeps next to and charges at.

MDDN 241: Character in Motion

when my character moves, his whole body compacts down and then extends out to propel him forwards

When he moves at high speed the top part of his body waves around behind him.

MDDN 241: Character Discription

My character’s materiality is based on a ‘bassburger’ portable speaker. His movement is based around the springing and jumping movements of pogo boots, and his meaning is based around the idea of playing or being playful, which is represented by the PlayStation 3 controller.

This character is very playful and energetic. He loves to interact with any item he comes across, and is often too absorbed in what he he doing to notice what is going on around him. He can be too excited about playing and testing things out to remember the responsibilities he has (such as remembering to keep himself charged), which has disastrous results.
